PROJECT OVERVIEW

Prompt:

Solve a problem that
you have encountered

Meta-Task:

Brand Design

Scope:

Three week sprint

Problem Statement

There is a growing divide between the consumer and their food.

I was tasked with designing an informational platform to promote locally sourced food.

The goal is to inform the user to make a more informed decision on their diet.

EMPATHIZING WITH THE USER

Competitive analysis, User Surveys, User Personas

Core Customer Needs

Gaining insights from user surveys

  • Collection of pertinent information

With no direct competitors in this space, the user needs a platform that provides the specific information. Including locally sourced food in all aspects of consumption.

  • Personalization of use

Customizable collections of information is shown to be a priority to the user.

  • Succinct navigation

Users of this style platform want to spend little time navigating to the pertinent information.

DEFINING A MVP

In defining the minimum viable product I built the information architecture. Here I began to understand the needs of the users and the necessary functions of this product.

User Stories

  • As an environmentalist I want to only consume food that is responsibly grown, so that the future of the planet is bright and green.
  • As a student I want to find a farm to table restaurant, so that I can experience a more environmentally friendly business model.
  • As a chef I want to find recipes that utilize produce that is in season, so that I can create dishes with the freshest ingredients.

DEVELOPING THE BRAND

PROTOTYPE

CHECK OUT THE PROTOYPE

What I learned?

Throughout this project I gained a greater appreciation for the design process as a whole. By building a product from the ground up I learned the importance of every single step.

Empathizing with the user to better understand what they want creates a solid base to begin to build a product. Defining not only the problem but the solutions in a way that the user will understand and enjoy sets one up to begin to ideate. Ideation is the creative center of a product and with the groundwork laid the ideas have room to grow in a way that is productive and towards a specific goal. Prototyping is the culmination of all the hard work done to give the product a user friendly touchpoint.

Finally testing your solutions and revising those solutions to create a conversation between the product and the user.
